{"id":1148,"date":"2016-01-18T10:25:48","date_gmt":"2016-01-18T18:25:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/?p=1148"},"modified":"2016-01-18T12:55:18","modified_gmt":"2016-01-18T20:55:18","slug":"a-battle-of-the-as","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/index.php\/2016\/01\/18\/a-battle-of-the-as\/","title":{"rendered":"A Battle Of The A&#8217;s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lots of logistical issues jeopardized whether we would be able to even hold this tournament, but thanks to the help of lots of team members, particularly Ryan Drake and Nora Massuda for making sure we got the equipment, we were able to host tourney 11 for 31 players.<\/p>\n<p>Lost a couple of players very early, but then it moved slowly still holding at 27 at the lunch break.\u00a0 Things moved a little more quickly after that.\u00a0 A couple of hands of note:<\/p>\n<p>Judy Lepire opens with KK and Gerry Shebar and Alex Lum call.\u00a0 Flop is KJQ.\u00a0 Judy bets 400, Gerry calls, Alex shoves with AQ.\u00a0 Judy calls, Gerry folds.\u00a0 The turn is a 10 giving Alex Broadway beating Judy\u2019s set of Kings.\u00a0 River is an A, allowing Judy to hit Broadway and chop with Alex to stay in the tourney.\u00a0 Both ended up at the final table.<\/p>\n<p>Final table was arrived at with a double knockout by Margy Chapin.\u00a0 Margy shoves with 44, Ferdy shoves with AK and Ryan Drake shoves KQ.\u00a0 The flop comes J 4 7 to give Margy a set and no help for Ferdy or Ryan on the turn and river.\u00a0 Margy has both guys covered so we are now at the final table.<\/p>\n<p>Final table:\u00a0 Adrian Aguilar, Alex Lum, Andy Park, Blue Sirius, Judy Lepire, Margy Chapin, Pepito Pea, Ryan Park, and Sanjay Vara.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Final-table-tourney-11.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1149\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1149\" src=\"http:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Final-table-tourney-11-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Final table tourney 11\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Final-table-tourney-11-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Final-table-tourney-11-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Final-table-tourney-11.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Blue is first out when she shoved with Ax and ran into JJ.\u00a0 Next action Judy avoided being \u201cbubble girl\u201d when Sanjay 3 bet with QQ and Judy shoved with AK.\u00a0 Flop brings 3 rags and the bubble is in sight, but amazingly the turn and river are both A\u2019s giving Judy the double up.<\/p>\n<p>Next to go on the bubble was Margy when she shoved preflop with $5400 from mid-position.\u00a0 Sanjay calls and Alex goes all in with $16K.\u00a0 Sanjay tanks but eventually folds.\u00a0 Margy shows 88, but gets no help against Alex\u2019s AA.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Park is out in 7th when his pocket 6\u2019s were no match for Pepito\u2019s K10 on a flop of AA10. Out in 6th was Sanjay when his QJ suited ran into Adrian\u2019s AK.\u00a0 And then to rub salt into the wound, Adrian turned another A.<\/p>\n<p>Judy shoved with K10 and was called by Pepito\u2019s QQ.\u00a0 No help for Judy busted her out in 5th place.\u00a0 She was followed by Pepito who shoved pre flop with K7 vs Alex\u2019s 88.<\/p>\n<p>The final three, our Triple A\u2019s:\u00a0 Adrian, Alex, Andy, played for almost 2 hours just exchanging chips.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Battle-of-the-As-Tourney-11.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1150\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1150\" src=\"http:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Battle-of-the-As-Tourney-11-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Battle of the A's Tourney 11\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Battle-of-the-As-Tourney-11-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Battle-of-the-As-Tourney-11-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Battle-of-the-As-Tourney-11.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Alex was left very short when he shoved pre flop with K10 and Adrian called with J4, flopping a J 10 9, and turning a 4 for two pair.\u00a0 Shortly after that Alex shoved 17K with 10 10, getting calls from Adrian with A 3 and Andy with AK, but Alex\u2019s 10\u2019s held up and he tripled up.\u00a0 Unfortunately, a few hands later Alex was out in 3rd and we were heads up with Andy and Adrian.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/heads-up-tourney-11.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1151\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1151\" src=\"http:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/heads-up-tourney-11-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"heads up tourney 11\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/heads-up-tourney-11-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/heads-up-tourney-11-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/heads-up-tourney-11.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They played for another 30 minutes exchanging chips and then finally Andy shoved pre flop with A 6 and Adrian called with KJ suited.\u00a0 Board runs out 5 4 9 10 9 and Andy takes it down.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/final-hand-tourney-11.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1152\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1152\" src=\"http:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/final-hand-tourney-11-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"final hand tourney 11\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/final-hand-tourney-11-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/final-hand-tourney-11-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/piranhapokerteam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/final-hand-tourney-11.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1st: Andy, 52; 2nd: Adrian, 39; 3rd: Alex, 27; 4th: Pepito, 17; 5th: Judy, 10; 6th: Sanjay, 7; 7th: Ryan Park, 3.<\/p>\n<p>Congrats to all!<\/p>\n<p>Written by Jan Klimala<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Side Note from Tony&#8230;.
