Twenty people showed up last Saturday to do battle in what turned out to be a roller coaster ride of a tournament. I’ll post some of the more interesting hands below:<\/p>\n

First bust-out, in round 1, preflop Christine raised out of position, and Lisa 3-bet. Everyone folded to Christine who quietly called. Flop was Kxx rainbow. Christine checked, Lisa C-bets, Christine calls. Turn brought a flush draw. Lisa bet 1K and Christine raised (don’t remember the amount). Lisa shoved all-in and was called quickly. Christine showed KK for top set and Lisa had the other K.<\/p>\n

In round 2, Jan got her last chips into the pot good with QJ on a AQQ board, but was out-kicked by Gilbert, who called with KQ.<\/p>\n

In round 3, 75\/150, Rod raised pre-flop, and the fairly short-stacked Haisam went all-in for around 3000. Rod tanked for a bit and finally called with 55. Haisam showed AA. Flop was A84, giving Haisam a set of Aces. However with the 6 & 7 turn and river, Rod backdoored a miracle straight. Set of aces cracked!<\/p>\n

Super big hand happened shortly after that: Christine, who was out of position, put in all her chips pre-flop with , Patrick, on the button, jammed over the top with , and Tony, who was slightly big stack called them both with . Kings held up with 2-pair on the board, launching Tony into a commanding lead and sending two players packing.<\/p>\n

Tony, taking advantage of his stack, sees a flop with . He and Dennis, with , played as the board ran out to: – – , giving Dennis a full house 6 over 4, but Tony had the bigger full house. All the chips went into the middle and the rich get richer.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Final table time, around level 300\/600. From far left clockwise: Rob, Amo, Gilbert, Rod, Gerry, Tony, Judy, Adrian, Ricky.<\/p>\n

Big pot happened right after the final table formed: Adrian, with jammed his roughly $10K stack on the turn – . Thought his two pair was good, and it was, for now. Gilbert called with top-pair-top-kicker. Unfortunately for Adrian, Gilbert rivered the giving him a bigger two pair. Adrian was crippled, down to a few chips.<\/p>\n

Then, on the last hand of 300\/600, Adrian, on the buggy, jams his short stack with . Rod called with . The board ran out , and Adrian got his much-needed double-up.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

OK, let’s start with the final table bust-outs. 400\/800. Ricky, who is holding , shoves his stack and gets called by Rod with AK. Board ran , giving Rod a higher pair. Family blood is spilled and Ricky goes out in 9th place, joining Rod’s rail. Some time later, Amo put out a normal raise to 2300, Gerry () raised to 4700, and Tony, who, by this point, was kind of a medium stack, went all in with . Amo reluctantly folded, and the board was – – , doubling Gerry up with top two and reducing Tony’s stack further. After that, Rod led out with , and Tony shoved his short stack with and got called. The flop came , giving Tony bottom pair. The turn was , improving Tony to two pair, but then Rod sucked out with the river . Tony out in 8th.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

With some fresh chips, Rod called Rob’s all-in with . Rob turned over so it’s off to the races. He flopped an 8, and doubled up at Rod’s expense. Towards the end of 400\/800, Amo had in the cutoff position, and went all in. Gerry (BB) called with , and jacks remained good. Amo went out in 7th, and we are on the bubble.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

500\/1000. Judy, who, by the way, has grinded her way to a pretty big stack at this point, raised to 2800 from the hijack seat. Rod (SB) raised to 5800, and Judy jammed for about $16K more. Rod folded and now Judy is big stack at the table.<\/p>\n

600\/1200. Rob and Rod get into it. Rob has AQ under the gun and goes all in for his last 12.9K. Rod has 99 and a similar sized stack and calls. Ace hits on the board, and after the counting is done, Rod finds himself with 300 chips left, half a small blind! Of course, Rod is in the small blind next hand, so he prepares for the drive home. His any two cards win the antes though, and he’s suddenly back up to 1600, just over 1 big blind. Next hand, Rod jams again, and meets with two callers. Rob and Gilbert. The two of them check down the dry side pot, and lo and behold Rod ends up with a flush, tripling up + the antes. Next hand, Adrian goes all in with A4 suited, and Rod calls with KQ. Q hits on the river, doubling Rod up again. Now Adrian is short stack. Finally, Adrian puts in his last 1200. Rod and Gerry call, and Rod wins with 2 pair, sending Adrian home as the bubble.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

At 800\/1600, Rod played against Gerry with , with a flop of . The turn gave Rod a straight, and Gerry was out in 5th place for 4 points. With these five critical double\/triple ups, Rod has gone from chip+chair to chip leader in under one round.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Judy, who still has a sizable stack, went all in on the button with :AhAc. Gilbert (BB) with called. Flop and turn were pretty safe for Judy, but the river give Gilbert a full house. Aces cracked again. Then, on the last hand of 800\/1600, after a flop of , Robert shoved his stack with (open ender and flush draw) and Judy called with . came, and Judy is crippled down to 1K chips. Finally, a short time after 1000\/2000 starts, Judy is all in for her last 400 chips, and with no hand goes home in 4th place, with 8 points. Final three are Rob, Gilbert, and Rod.<\/p>\n

At 1500\/3000, Gilbert goes all-in with , gets called by Rod with . Jacks hold up, and Gilbert is out in 3rd place, bringing in 18 points.<\/p>\n

Finally, last hand of the night, Rob went all in with , and Rod called with . The board ran out , and Rob is out in 2nd place, 29 points. Rod sure had a roller coaster day, cracking aces early on, getting down to half a small blind, and then finally taking down the tournament. Great job, and Rod got 41 points for his performance.<\/p>\n
