Congratulations to Jan Klimala who took down Tournament 13. Jan battled Sanjay Vara headsup with the key hand almost going to the wrong player.
On a flop of Q 8 6, Jan shoved and Sanjay called. Jan flipped over Q9 for top pair and Sanjay showed 10 6 for bottom pair. The turn came a Jack followed by a 10 on the river. At first, it appeared that Sanjay won the hand with two pair and Jan got up to leave but it was noticed by the volunteer dealer that Jan had actually rivered a straight. After all the chips were counted, Sanjay had one 100 chip remaining. A literal chip and a chair. Sanjay was able to double up on the next hand but could not keep it going and busted out when his pocket fours were not good on Jan’s Q7 when a Queen came on the flop.
