Hansen Dominates In Lightning Fashion

With the season almost at it’s halway point, 34 Piranhas entered into the Foster City Rec room trying to crack the top 10. 55 Points was up for grabs and with only 12 tournies left every point counts.

Unlike most Piranha tournaments this year, it seemed everyone was in a gambling mood early as we lost player after player and were down from 34 to 18 in just over 5 hours. The next 8 bustouts went just as quickly and it was the haves and the have nots that sat on the Final table bubble. Although the average stack was around 18k there were multiple chip leaders with over 40k and multiple short stacks with under 8k.  The final table bubble took almost 45 minutes to burst but in the end it was Geoffrey Batuyong who exited 10th.  We had our final table and points bubble.

It was the usual suspects and a final table that featured 3 of Piranhas top 10 in the standings so far this year.  Unfortunatly for a short stacked Nora she was first to go and the points bubble was burst. From there the bustouts came fast and furious as nobody was willing to back down.  Next to go was equally short stacked VickKi Dea and she earned 2 points for her efforts.  This kept VickKi in 7th overall in the standings.  Next to go was Vlad in a monster pot vs Christine where his aj could not outrun kk preflop and Vald was out with 4 points and stil in 8th in the standings. After a few pots with monster stacks battling back and forth it was Vineet who was out next for 8 points. A short stacked  Dennis Koeller was out next for 12 points.  Next to go was Anthony Gaglione who sat on his short stack of 8k for over an hour trying to chip up in points to secure his spot.  Mission accomplished as he went out in 4th and gained 18 points moving him to 1st in the standings and a seat locked up for WSOP. with 127 points total. Troy Soult our Anniversarry winner was next out in 3rd with his first cash of the year for 29 points.  We had our Heads up match.

Christine LaMonaca vs. Derrick Hanson

In the end it was Derrick Hanson knocking out Christine and sending her home with 42 points.  For his efforts Derrick earned 55 points and a spot in 10th in the overall standings in what was the quickest Piranha tournament of the year.
