The Return Of “The Romantic”

Happy New Year One and All.

Event #10, Piranha’s first tournament for the New Year was filled with just a little extra enthusiasm and anticipation as 37 happy shiny pokers players returned from the holidays to hone their ample poker skills and test their luck. All of our flesh eating fish wanted to take down this tournament. Dominic was excited that the computer randomly perched him at table1, seat1. In the first level with just a few hands in, a battle ensued between Dom and Debra P. Both flopped two pair with Debra P. flopping the higher two with K7 and Dom with K3. Debra P. bet 1500. Dom flat calls with position. The turn was innocuous while both were still drawing to a full house. River comes a 3 and Dom bets 3000 after Debra checked. Yep he hit that.

Personally, I hate that last hand before the lunch break. If you have a wimpy hand you’re out of there. However sometimes very dangerous, beautiful hands show up and it’s painful. This is a classic duel between Blue S. and Jan K. Blue S. in position with pocket AdAc, (pre-flop) raises to 250, Jan flats with pocket JJ. Flop misses them both, but there are two clubs, Blue S. raises to 600, Jan re-raises to 1350, Blue pushes all-in, Jan snap calls and the turn is a J of clubs. Set of J’s holds up, no club on the river and Blue is out before the break. I’ve been there.

Level 4 rolls around and the two big stacks at table 3 decided they wanted to inflict as much pressure on each other as humanly possible. Christine L. has pocket KK in position, Vineet K. with AhJh, (pre-flop) bets 600, Christine L. re-raises to 1800, Vineet K. flat calls, flop is small cards with two hearts, Vineet K. checks, Christine L. Bets 2200, Vineet K. pushes all-in. Christine L. calls, KK’s hold up. At level 4 Christine L. now has over 30 thousand chips. However, Vineet is still alive and fighting.

Final Table……….

To Summarize, this is how the Karma flowed at Piranha. A Full-House to double you up early, Aces gets cracked, Kings hold up and you too can take down a tournament with 69 of hearts.
