On January 26th, we celebrated 20 seasons of Piranha Poker with a fantastic brunch hosted by our very own Reem Assil followed by a very fun tournament.
The event was to celebrate the community that we have built over 20 seasons. We are not just a poker club but a community where many have built lifelong friendships.
To show the love that many current and former Piranhas have felt towards the group, many chipped in to buy Ed Sandoval a seat to the World Series of Poker. Despite starting the group 20 years ago, Ed has never represented Piranha at the WSOP. A total of $1800 was raised and presented to Ed by Original Member Kendra Lock. This will give Ed a $1500 buy in and a little travel money to experience the joy of going to the WSOP.

After the amazing brunch provided by Reem Assil, who got her start in the restaurant business through Piranha, we got down to playing a fun tournament where everyone was awarded a prize. Donated prizes ranged from a deck of cards to the top prizes of a stay at a Mexican villa in San Miguel de Allende (generously donated by Chino Lee Chung) and a luxury Vegas condo (donated by Dominic Chan).
Ferdy Jimenez battled Joe Wiebelhaus heads up where the winner decided which prize to take. The last hand was pretty unbelievable as Joe holding Q9 jammed with his remaining chips and was called by Ferdy holding pocket 6s. The flop gave Joe the lead with top 2 pair but the turn came a 6 and the river did not improve Joe giving Ferdy the miracle win.

Thanks to Becky M for this lovely TikTok video she did of our event
